Maxwell Club Marmaris Guide

As promised here are my thoughts on the hotel we stayed in. Finally got around to putting fingers to keyboard.
We arrived at the Hotel at 02:00 in the morning on a Sunday, which normally would be a royal pain in the rear but check in was simple and the night watchman kindly opened up the bar so we could wash away the travelling blues. Sat in the bar till about 5 AM then walked to the beach to see the morning rise.
The hotel is not 5 star, far from it but it was clean, the room we had was good, nothing to complain about, maid service was as you would expect with plenty of room.
The hotel amenities are good, there is an on site health centre should you require a spa or a Turkish bath and a really good hair/shave/tattoo office which we all used, do not go to Turkey without having a Turkish shave.
Aircon is extra in your bedrooms but not too expensive, works out to be about a fiver a night, we only used it on our second week when the temperatures got up to over 40 degrees in the shade.
The hotel bar is good, they do thier best to keep you entertained but top tip; keep an eye on what you are drinking, things that you may or may not have ordered appear on the bill, I am not saying they do it on purpose but be aware. We logged all our drink purchases to an iphone and made sure the staff knew this; this stopped any discrepancies.
The pool was clean and well looked after but if I had of taken the kids it would have been a bit of an issue as it is deep with no shallow end, it is 1.6 metres deep throughout so the ladies could not touch the bottom without taking in mouthfuls of water.
Food was ok if you ate there, we only did a few times, generally breakfast after working out that buying sausages/eggs / bacon etc then cooking it worked out more expensive than having someone else do it for you.
My only gripe would be that you are, under no circumstances allowed to bring any food or drink to the pool area that you have not bought from the bar. So no making a cup of tea and taking it to pool side from your room. No taking bottles of water from the market next door either. So self catering means do it in the room and leave it there.
All in all, a great hotel, great staff would go back again in a heartbeat.

Turkey Holiday Video 2010

Here we are in Marmaris, Turkey with Jue and Jeff. Boring for those who don’t know us, but hey ho, for those that do – enjoy. Sorry about the repetative music but I didn’t realise that the pictures would produce such a long slideshow so it loops on and on and on.
I will get round to doing a holiday report when I get a chance, I think I will do it after a glass of wine on Friday, that way I am open and honest
